How do I break into Fashion Marketing when I have been in a career for almost 10 yrs in something else?

In the Fashion industry it's all about who and where, who you know and going to one of the fashion capital to stay in the loop: NYC,milan, miami, LA, Paris. I'd start by contacting the people at your fav companies and network like crazy, let every body know that you are looking for a Fashion GIG. Oh and get Womens Wear Daily, it's the Fashion Supepages.
- I know b/c I graduated from the Craft Fashion Institute here in Philly. So I'm teliing you from my mistakes.

I am going to college this fall for fashion marketing. What is a good university in TX for that?

I got accepted to International Academy of Design and Technology-Chicago and Art Institute-Phoenix but they're very expensive. Universities would be cheaper.

ugh, don't you hate it when people don't help the situation, but just say "well you should have done this…"

defeats the whole purpose of asking, sheesh! anyway, on to actually helping you with your question.

It's a college matchmaker form that you fill out, and in the end, it will give you a list of universities that meet the requirements you entered. You don't have to answer all of the questions. It lets you choose a price range, major, on-campus activities, ect…

What jobs can you get in fashion marketing?

I was wondering I was searching for jobs and I haven’t seen any results.

That's a tough business to just break into. You usually have to either have already been in "the fashion business" or know someone who is or that you're very well known and extremely talented in some phase of the business.

Having said that, I would suggest you try to find a novel way to break in. Good Luck with that.

Cannot think of many jobs in that field at all apart from retail outlet .
But for that you do not need any degree. I would stay clear of such a study because you may end up wasting your time. It would be a lot better to get a nursing degree but then you need to study science. Very high paying jobs in every city, state, and town.

Whcich college is good at fashion marketing? Humber or George Brown?

I’m gonna take the program of fashion arts(marketing) in Humber College. But I’m also thinking about the fashion management in George Brown. I wanna know which college is better in fashion education? Actually I’ve compared the two courses and I prefer to the Humber one. But I’m an international student and I have no idea about the reputation between the two schools. Please give me advise. Thanks a lot!

I don’t really know specifically about the program you want to go to but Humber apparently has a very good reputation. I’m going for Business – Marketing at Humber for that very reason. Take a look at the Macleans survey comparing Ontario colleges and why not visit the campuses

Humber has the highest student satisfaction rate for the GTA. George Brown though is way at the bottom

Fashion Shows, they are an event that needs management and are used to promote fashion. The fashion stuff could be your core product, and the event management stuff can help you promote it. If you were also became good at getting sponsors your shows can make you money regardless of whether or not you sell any fashion. When your fashion stuff starts selling, you get even more money.

i'm going to graduate with a degree in art history and english, but i want to do PR, marketing or event planning for designers. i currently have no contacts in the fashion world. what to do?

I have a degree in the field you want to go into. My advice would be to try to get an internship with a local PR firm. You'll have to work from the ground up, but at least you'll get your foot in the door. Start calling up PR businesses to see if they're willing to work with you. In this business, you have to be a go-getter because it is very competitive. In the meantime, start talking to different people (a.k.a. friends of friends, strangers, etc.) and network like crazy. You never know who will have a connection to the career you're looking for. Good luck and don't give up.

I've done a course there before and they are pretty good. Their brochures are extremely detailed, you can order one by going to their website. The website does list the course structure, entry requirements, etc, have a look at:

What are some good companies to work for i love music,film fashion, and marketing is my backround.?

I want to kind of work in one company that has all of these businesses ( music,film,fashion). I have about six years of marketing experience but not in the relative filed my highest postion has been General Manager with direcrt accountability for operations and marketing, and P&L. At what level should I go after I have somewhat of a director or senior VP title in Marketing.

You could work as an event planner or a company that plans events for companies

FIDM is the best one in California.
