Fashion School Help. Answer!!!!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fashion merchandising school

Ok, So I want to go to college for fashion and I eventually want to open up a boutique. I want to go to FIDM but I think that it is too expensive. I really want to go somewhere in California. It doesn’t have to be a school specifically for fashion just one that I can major in Fashion merchandising or design. Thanks!!!!!

Hi!

Well I think that’s great that you want to go to FIDM, and I certainly wouldn’t let money stop you from attending if you really want to go!

Trust me, not all FIDM students have money like you may see on TV. Many students apply for grants, loans and scholarships. My friend went to FIDM and she had to use all of the above to help fund her education but it was very worth it.

The advisors at the school are also very nice in helping students with financial aid. They are a fountain of knowledge when it comes to wanting to know about any ways to help pay for your schooling.

You may have heard of the scholarship web site: www.fastweb.com, but that web site has TONS of information on scholarships. Also, going to google and just typing in Fashion+Scholarships may also give you direction to some awesome scholarships!

If you haven’t already, I would talk to an advisor at FIDM. They are really nice and will answer any questions you may have.

FIDM’s web site is: www.fidm.edu

Hope this helps :)

What is the best fashion design school?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fashion merchandising school

I want to be a designer one day and I’m not sure what’s the best school to go to. Some schools I’ve heard that are good are:

-Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM)
-Academy of Art University
-Parsons
-Pratt University

I was leaning toward to FIDM but then I heard it’s a waste and you can’t get a bachelor’s. If there are any that are better than the ones I’ve listed, please suggest them!

Thanks!

FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) or Parsons

Which fashion school is the best out of these?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fashion merchandising school

Ive been looking into several fashion schools, I am very interested in fashion design and marketing. Which schools would you recommend out of these?

1. Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising ( FIDM in Los Angeles)
2. Parsons
3. The Illinois Institute of Art (in Chicago)
4. Pratt University (Brooklyn, NY)

- also if you have any suggestions other than the schools i listed i would loveee to hear them. thanks!

Out of those four, I’d say Parsons (Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Isaac Mizrahi, and Donna Karen are alumni!) as number one. and then Pratt.
Other really good fashion schools are Academy of Art University in San Francisco (one of the few schools chosen to show at fashion week in NY), and Central St. Martins in London.
FIDM is a waste, unless you only want your A.A. You are unable to get a B.F.A. at FIDM.

Which school is better for fashion merchandising: San Francisco State University OR Cal State Long Beach?!?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: fashion merchandising school

I love the urban atmosphere of San Francisco but I ALSO love that Long Beach is close to home && the beach. I basically need some help to favor one school over the other! If anyone has anything to say about either schools, I would love your input! Thanks!

I am currently debating on getting my Fashion Merchandising degree, I got into FIDM but just found out that LB has a Masters program…I have no idea which to choose… I do know this, that LA has a larger fashion industry than S.F. I just moved here from N.Y. New York is #1, but LA is #2. If you really want to get into the "high fashion" biz, then go to FIT NY, otherwise Long Beach is good, considering how close it is to LA. If you know anything about FIDM vs. Long Beach…let me know. PLEASE answer my question….
