Best known as one of the breakout designers from Bravo’s Project Runway 2, Nick Verreos quickly became one of the favorites to win and a fan favorite for his talent, skill and design ability. Nick was the winner of the now-infamous Barbie Challenge, in which he designed an unforgettable outfit for My Scene Barbie. The Barbie was produced by Mattel and sold on the Project Runway Web store as well as in Toys ‘R’ Us and was featured in People and TV Guide magazines.

Since Project Runway Nick has been flown to Torino, Italy to cover the Olympic Games for NBC, designed the Heineken Green Ribbon for the 2006 Latin Billboard Awards in Miami as well as continued to stay in the Media spotlight by appearing as a Fashion Expert on shows such as The Hills, The Simple Life, the WB’s new hit show CROWNED, Bravo’s Work Out and even host of TV GUIDE’s Reality Chat and The Fashion Team. He was also tapped by People Magazine to be the writer of People.com’s only recap blog for Project Runway, which is read by millions on a weekly basis and Nick also writes a bi-monthly column on fashion for Frontiers Magazine as well as his own weekly blog for Bravotv.com. Currently, Nick has signed on with MSN, to be part of the “Glam Squad” for the launch of their new project entitled Style Studio. He will be sharing with viewer’s valuable Fashion tips and advice.

Recently, Nick became the official spokesperson for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), the school where he teaches part-time and in one of his most exciting projects, Nick designed his own Exclusive line of Prom Dresses for Windsor Fashions which quickly sold out across the country.

Visual Merchandising or Fashion Marketing?

I’m going back to fashion school but I don’t know what to major in. I was doing fashion marketing and management, but the school I chose now also offers visual merchandising as a major as well. I like both directions but just unsure which one to declare.
{Also, I’m planning on starting my own fashion line later (maybe early 30’s)}

Do Visual. It is so new that you could be free to actually work in the industry and get credit..

she wants to major in fashion design
and i want to major in fashion merchandising
we both have good grades
so does anyone know a really good school for these?

Liz Claiborne History

Founded in 1976 by Liz Claiborne, Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer and Jerome Chazen, it was an immediate success with sales of $2 million in 1976 and $23 million in 1978. Liz Claiborne Inc. went public in 1981 and had made the Fortune 500 in 1986 ten years after it was founded with retail sales of $1.2 billion. It was the first company founded by a woman to be listed in the Fortune 500.

Liz Claiborne was also the first designer to insist that her collection be placed together on the department store sales floor instead of in separate clothing categories which changed the way we shop. Shoppers no longer went from shirt department to pant department to coordinate an outfit. They were able to mix and match pieces from the Liz Claiborne collection to create entire outfits. This revolutionized the way department stores arranged clothing for sale and created the role of fashion merchandising as we know it today.

Founder Leonard Boxer retired in 1985, and in 1989, Liz Claiborne and Art Ortenberg also retired from active management. Jerry Chazen, the fourth original partner, became the company’s Chairman in 1989 and held that role until 2006.

In 1999, Liz Claiborne, Inc. acquired 85% of Lucky Brand Jeans. In 2001, they acquired Mexx and in 2003 they bought another large fashion company, Juicy Couture.

On October 16, 2006, Liz Claiborne Inc. named William McComb Chief Executive Officer. In February 2007, Liz Claiborne Inc. named Tim Gunn, formerly Chair of Fashion Design at Parsons The New School for Design, Chief Creative Officer.

Claiborne died on Tuesday June 26, 2007 at the age of 78. She died after a several-year struggle with cancer.

BA in Fashion Merchandising?

Is there anywhere that offers BA's in Fashion Merchandising? What schools?

or is there only AA's in Fashion Merchandising?

There are plenty of schools that have it. I went to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA and I have a BA in Fashion Merchandising (and a minor in Marketing). Try this page for some schools.
