How do I go about getting a job as a lazy teen lol?

I am 15, nearly 16 and thinking of getting like a Saturday job or something.

I love music and fashion so was thinking of getting a job at like New Look or HMV which are both very near to me.

Would it be worth getting a job in like the West End shops or something? Will they pay more?

What kind of salary and hours would I be expecting and lol will I get like discounts on merchandise if I am a good employee? I don't want to victimised or taken advantage of because of my age and inexperience so I'd like to know my rights.

My mum says it would be best if I inquire about October coz I turn 16 in December right before Xmas and shops always need more staff around that time. They would have a few months to train me then. Is this a good idea and how would I go about asking for a job?

EDIT: I'm not really lazy lol but I just want some extra cash of my own coz my parents are starting to nag. I wouldn't be pursuing this as a full-time or future career its just funding.

It is a good idea to get a job around Christmas because nearly every shop needs extra staff around then. However, they are quite often only looking for temporary staff. I guess there's a chance they'll keep you on if they like you though.

I am unsure if the shops in the West End pay more. You'd certainly be kept busy there though! The shops are always packed.

You will get discount wherever you work, most places offer it. It's normally 10% or 20% off.

Supermarkets often take on students part time, it's not very glam but those sort of jobs are usually quite easy to obtain. I worked in one during my college years and had a great time! Most of the other people were my age so we all had a laugh.

I reckon River Island would be the best place, I love their clothes and the stores are cool!

Ok i have been in retail for awhile now and want something different more like office work but my resume to me sucks a little needs a little kick to it.

If my Memory corrects me right. i watched a video on youtube Of when John cena was training to be a wrestler I think? and he was practicing moves on this dude, My point is In the video he did different moves like any normal wrestler. people Need To realize The wwe tells john cena to win with five moves, act like a superman, write jbl is poopy. Here is a quote of John cena wiki. Claiming some people disliked him on account of his "in-ring style" and his chosen fashion. See The wwe told him to do five moves so stop complaining it is'nt his fault you know?. Air Sabu you aren't funny John cena i am pretty sure live in a nice big house not trash. I guess Since kid's like John cena they had him portrayed as to be a superman So kid's will buy his merchandise. and overcoming the odds was to build ratings? Could use some helpful resume tips for revising my resume. Looking for a way to for my job history to sound more professional and simplified. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Customer Service Consultant
Processed check orders for customers, making sure the customer properly verified all info on checks. Attention was always focused on the customers, listening for any signs of fraud.
Sometimes had to go above and beyond to get customers their checks in a timely fashion.
Also developed my skills within the company by cross training in other departments.

Assistant Manager
Trained new employees did a lot of up selling on merchandise, ran register, made sure the store was in good shape and well stocked.
Did store audits and ordered more merchandise for the store.
Made sure all monies were accounted for at the end of the night, including lottery tickets.

You have a good description of your duties but try to put them in a more favorable light. As a manager you were in charge of doing certain things such as ordering. Do not be afraid to use the phrase in charge or in some way indicate your leadership positions more strongly./

I have travelled a lot in recent years to a variety of places including Moscow, St.Petersburg, Corfu, Portugal and my favourite city Paris. From every place I have visited I have learnt something about myself and life. Even though I enjoy travelling immensely, I have recently decided put it aside to save and focus more on my career.

Im trying to think of an achievement section but i dont want to repeat myself

Your potential employer wants to get the picture at a glance.
Condense it a bit. For example, ” I enjoy sports such as squash, ice skating, swimming and tennis along with regular gym visits and jogging” cuts out 24 unnecessary words. All the extra words are padding. In the first paragraph there is no need to state twice that you are a quick learner. Try: “I have excellent IT and organisational skills. I can work calmly under pressure which inevitably gets the job done.”

Correction: “which led me into participating” not ” which lead me”. Same error “This mix lead me”.

An achievement section would be fine, but remove actual achievement details from the earlier section and you won’t repeat yourself.

Interesting CV which will be even better if you reduce the padding especially in Interests and Activities. Give the bare bones, and let the employer ask questions at interview, and you can expand then.

Include details of referees (not just available on request).

You need to take your age off and any references to you being young. The reason is that there is now age discrimination legislation which makes employers nervous, so the best thing is to not mention your age at all.

Your most recent employer should always be at the top and fill out your duties a little bit more – do you serve clients on a one-to-one basis (Jaegar will want to see that)? Cut down the personal stuff, where you have travelled doesn’t count as an achievement, I would put the fashion show bit in plus your love of fashion and photography and take everything else out.

Focus on what you have done and what a fashion retailer is going to be looking for…
- Can you sell
- Can you put an outfit together
- Can you hold an easy, natural conversation with a client
- Can they trust you with their merchandise

Career Path for Retail Store Managers?

I am a recent college graduate about to begin a retail store management training program. I am excited, for one, as I have been trying desperately to find a job in the fashion/retail industry (though initially I had hoped to break into buying and merchandising). However, with the economy the way it is, I was greatful to be offered this opporunity as I have been looking for jobs for quite some time and have had very few offers or prospects…The problem is that I've researched average salaries for retail managements, and even after 20 years in the industry, the average salary is much lower than I hoped to be earning. What other (higher paying) jobs could i hope to eventually move into if i enter retail management or will i be stuck without mobility if i take this job? will it be possible to eventually move into merchandising and buying from this position or will i be backing myself into a corner?

I am a retail manager. And I'm going to tell you that it is a terrible, terrible job if you ever want to do anything else career-wise outside of retail. Retail experience, even management, usually equals nothing outside of the retail sector. The only good thing you can say that you got from retail is outstanding customer service skills.

I would take the job, however, I would vow to stay there for a minimum of one year (anything less than that doesn't really hold much value) and a maximum of 3 years (anything more than that will kill you!). After you have done that time, it should be fairly easy to move up (within the company) to buying and merchandising.

How do you become a college professor?

I have my MBA in straight business, my BS in Business Management, and my AS is in Fashion Merchandising and Design. I have never taught a class, but ran the HR and training departments at previous retail jobs. How does one get a start in teaching at college level? I don't feel like I can apply for these jobs since I have no experience, but how do you gain that experience? Is it something I would have to volunteer my time for?
Oh, didn't realize I needed at PHD. Nevermind, I guess I can't do this. Thanks.

With a master's degree, you can easily get a part-time teaching job at a local community college, and probably at a local state college. That will give you plenty of experience, and you can decide from there what you want to do. You will get paid, but if you teach at a public school, the pay isn't that big!

I don't know what career to choose,or what's best?

I love fashion merchandising and design.I've started medical claims and billing training at home but I really don't like it ,its boring to me .Now fashion is more my thing ,but what's going to make me more sucessful in life .That's what I want to know and I need an opinion.I want a good future for me and my family.

Depends on your obligations, but you should always try to do what you like doing. If something is boring now, it's not going to get any better in 10-20 years.

At the same time, you have to put food on the table for your family, so only you know the best way to achieve your goals and also provide for the present.
